New record for Zell am See – Kaprun: best season ever!

The Zell am See-Kaprun reports the most successful tourism year ever. 2,247,426 overnight stays were obtained 2011/2012. Tourism experts and companies in the region are delighted: Zell am See-Kaprun held, with 2,247,426 overnight stays, the most successful tourism year ever. Nearly 500,000 people spent their holidays 2011/2012 in the diverse region. This is an increase of 7.45 percent in arrivals.

All main lifts operating, up to one meter of snow on the 3,000 meter high Kitzsteinhorn glacier and varied events further contributed to a very positive result in the month of December 2012. Compared to last year, the statistics in Zell am See has a growth rate of 13.46 percent. Moreover Kaprun recorded an increase of 8.91 percent. For the region Zell am See-Kaprun, this represents an increase of 11.43 percent.

A well thought out marketing strategy and a varied tourist services led the region to this outstanding development of overnight stays. The managing director of Zell am See-Kaprun tourism, Renate Ecker, is pleased with this upturn: “Through targeted international marketing activities on a variety of markets, supported by regional and international events, as well as the diverse range of services, we were able to break this record.”

Christoph Bründl, chairman of the Tourism Association Kaprun, added: “Zell am See-Kaprun is in 2013 dedicated to the strategic implementation of the brand essence “glaciers, mountains and lakes. “
